COMIFAC  - The Central African Forests Commission is the primary authority for decision making and coordination of sub-regional actions and initiatives of the Congo Basin forests.  Available in English and French.

CARPE – The Central Africa Regional Program for the Environment of the United States Agency for International Development provides access to a host of resources on the forests of Central African, including the Congo Basin State of the Forests Reports, an Information Management Tool and an interactive map with downloadable data.  Available in English and French.

Cameroon

General forest sector overview and legislation

Since 1994, when Cameroon undertook major revisions of its forest legislation, the Forest Code – Law n° 94 of January 20, 1994, in conjunction with its application text n° 95/531/PM of August 23, 1995 – sets down the overarching principles governing forest management in the country.  While the 1994 Forest Code remains the law of the land, many application texts (décrets, arrêtés, etc.) have been enacted since then to define how policies would be implemented – below is a partial list.  The Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife (MINFOF) is responsible for forest management policy and enforcement.  In addition to the documents below – for more detailed information on the Cameroonian forest sector - one could start by visiting MINFOF’s site and referring to the Interactive Forest Atlas of Cameroon.

The Forest Environment Sector Program (PSFE) is a nationwide multiyear strategy to ensure that forest and flora are managed in a sustainable and participative way, available in French and English.

ProPSFE is an international group that works on the realization of the PSFE, available in French.

GeoBIEP follows the impacts of the PSFE through 33 indicators. The homepage hosts a large library that contains important documents like forest management plans and an Interactive Forest Atlas, which shows the logging concessions, the national parks, planed projects and some hunting information, the data is downloadable. Central African Republic

The Central African Republic (CAR) forest resource management and enforcement is governed by the Forest Code and related application texts (décrets, arrêtés, etc).  A new iteration of this code was promulgated in 2008 (law no 08.022) and replaces the preceding Forest Code of 1990.  Below is a partial list of forest legislation in effect in CAR.  The administration in charge of forest management and enforcement is the Ministry of Water, Forests, Hunting and Fishing (MEFCP), composed of five sub-directorates.  In addition to the documents below, more detailed information on the CAR forest sector can be obtained by consulting the Interactive Forest Atlas of the Central African Republic (in French).
