Africa Wood for Life

Africa wood for life is an association of the major companies operating in Central Africa and engaged in sustainable management processes. 

Global Forest and Trade Network (GFTN)

The Global Forest and Trade Network (GFTN), a WWF led partnership, facilitates trade links between companies committed to achieve and support responsible forestry.

The Forest Trust

The Forest Trust (TFT) is a UK registered charity focused on making the trade of timber from sustainable forest management standard practice. Managed by TFT in partnership with a number of European Timber Trade Federations, the Timber Trade Action Plan (TTAP) aims to reduce the trade in illegal wood products and contribute to sustainable forest management.

Rainforest Alliance/Smartwood

Rainforest Alliance works to encourage better on-the-ground forestry practices by rewarding businesses, communities and governments that meet standards for sustainability.  RA, through its Smartwood program acts as a certifying body for FSC, as well as offering timber legality and compliance certificates such as VLO and VLC. 

SGS

SGS provides certification, monitoring, inspection and testing services for a variety of forest and wood products.  SGS offers timber legality certificates through its Timber Legality and Traceability Verification (TLTV) program. 

Bureau Veritas

The Bureau Veritas Group offers certification and chain-of-custody services.

SCS

The Scientific Certification System (SCS) offers an array of certification programs intended to generate market recognition for those entities that are demonstrably managing natural resources in accordance with internationally recognized norms of responsible management.

Illegal Logging

Many organizations are working to document and address illegal logging and related problems, and to ensure that supply chains have the capacity to deliver legal forest products.
